How Do I Choose A Dedicated Hosting Managed Server's Services
Choose a Dedicated Web Hosting Service
If you plan to
launch a website, you'll need a server for storing all the bits and bytes that
will comprise your online presence. A server is a combination of hardware and
software that handles information requests and delivers data to client
computers over a network. In terms of site building, it's where your webpage
files live.
The dedicated
server is one of the most common server types. Unlike the shared server that
divides its resources across multiple sites, the dedicated server hosts just
one site. There are both positive and negative aspects of building a site on a
dedicated server.
The upside? Traffic
surges won't typically slow down your webpage or knock it offline as all of the
CPU's resources are at the site's disposal (websites running on shared servers
can go down due to a traffic surge). You also have more control over the apps
and scripts that you install on the server.
The downside? A
relatively high cost of entry. Setting up shop on a dedicated server will
likely cost you over $100 per month (shared servers, on the other hand, can be
leased for under $10 per month). You'll also have to maintain the appropriate
firewalls and maintenance yourself unless you opt for a managed server with
costs extra.
Web hosting
companies typically offer unlimited bandwidth, storage, email, and other
bonuses with a dedicated server plan—check out our chart for a full list of
extras. If you're looking specifically for small business website tips.

Sad to see Knownhost didn't make this list. They're great! I've also heard nothing but bad things about bluehost, but YMMV. There are so many different web hosting that picking one is pretty much a gamble anyway.
